Ingredients:
- 200 mg lentils (yellow split peas)
- 2 slides raw ginger unpeeled
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 pints water
- oil, margarine or soy butter for frying
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander powder
- 1/4 teaspoon hot chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon asafetida
Directions:
Add lentils, ginger, turmeric to 2 pints water and bring to boil. Skim foam, reduce heat and leave for 1 hour adding water if you think its too thick.
Remove ginger.
Fry with spices, cook for 1/2 minute and add to lentils.
